PRACTITIONER-LED
Better conveyancing, from the inside out
The Conveyancing Improvement Collective is a practitioner-led initiative focused on practically improving the residential conveyancing process in England and Wales.
Conveyancers… is it time to take a long look in the mirror and accept we are a major part of the problem?
Marc Lansdell, MD, Evolve Law
Our mission
To help improve the home buying and selling process in England and Wales by streamlining the conveyancing process — with help from front-line conveyancers from firms of all shapes and sizes.
It was recently reported that a contract pack was sent out to a firm acting for a potential buyer, whereupon 6 additional enquiries were raised. When that sale aborted, for non-legal reasons, the same pack was sent to another firm, but an astonishing 46 enquiries were raised. Inconsistencies like this makes conveyancers look disjointed and conveyancing unnecessarily complicated and slow.

WHAT WE’RE WORKING ON
Our early objectives
Two clear goals to start, with more to follow.
01
Unnecessary enquiries
Reducing the volume of unnecessary enquiries raised, to make transactions faster and more consistent for everyone involved.
02
Mortgagee protection clauses
Resolving confusion around mortgagee protection clauses in leases, working with lenders and other stakeholders.
03
More to follow…
There are a host of other issues to tackle. Our intention is to work alongside other relevant groups as and when needed.
